Zachary’s Story
Usually I was the driver when travelling to tournaments and I fondly remember being on the road with the team. One of our favorite things to do when travelling was to stop at Buc-ee’s before and after to get breakfast and dinner. It’s the small things like this I remember the most about my time on the team that make you really appreciate being a part of it. However, this past year at Super Bitfest, we beat Texas A&M Varsity’s team going into the Grand Finals and it was an incredible experience. They are such a good team and the fact that we were able to overcome them was so satisfying and a great accomplishment. Being on the Esports Team at Texas State was my favorite experience at Texas State University as not only did we compete but I also got to talk to and meet new people. Smash especially is a really social game that inherently allows people who are not very comfortable with social situations to break out of their shell and become more socially active.
