Imran's Story
In December 2022, the Valorant team went to San Antonio to play a LAN at the Tech Port Esports Arena against 31 other teams. This was one of the first times that we had ever played together in person outside of the arena on campus and it was a really fun experience. The competition was really good, as we even ultimately faced off against actual semi-professional teams. However, our team was also playing really well, and we would eventually finish 3rd place. What I remember most about competing that day was how cool it was to be able to trash talk our opponents face to face as opposed to doing it online. Another tournament that we had a good performance in was the CVAL (Collegiate Valorant) league hosted by Riot Games. Although going into the tournament we were seeded low, we played insanely well, upsetting a lot of teams, and ended up finishing 8th place. With that top 8 finish, the team won a $500 cash prize, which was absolutely crazy that we were able to earn money by playing video games. So being able to place that high was a great accomplishment for us. I’d also like to mention that all of my friends and everyone that I hang out with in person, I met through competing on Texas State Esports Valorant team. So, I would absolutely recommend playing on a team for Texas State Esports because it is a great way to meet people and make great memories.
